My mind was racing as I rocked Elias in the chair tonight. I was thinking about some of the events of the day and I was thinking about writing this post for tonight. As Elias wrapped his arms tighter around my neck, it hit me. Slow down. Stay in the moment.
My mind then cleared. I took a few deep breaths. And we sang another song. Slower.
Elias leaned back and looked into my eyes and then put his head on my shoulder. While I sang the final words of the song I held him in my arms and prayed for him like I try to do every night.
As he lay there in my arms, I thought about how lucky I am to have him as a son. I thought about Linnea and how she is such a good sister to Elias. And all I wanted to do was to stay in the moment.
Over the last 29 days of writing for this series, I have learned so much about myself and developed my skill as a writer. But as a dad and a husband, I hope that I am becoming more thankful along the way.
I hope that these last four weeks have been enjoyable for you as well. My mission as a writer is to share my story while inspiring you to share your story as well because we all have a story to share.
While the month of November comes to a close tomorrow, so will the 30 Days of Thankfulness. But - I am excited to share with you again tomorrow - by sharing one of my favorite words!
See you all tomorrow!
